Box Architects scheme lands second award nomination

William Turner Court, a McCarthy & Stone retirement living development designed by Box Architects, has been nominated for a Design Excellence Award. The Insider North East Property Awards will be held next month at the Hilton Newcastle in Gateshead.

When designing the building, Box Architects took inspiration from the existing streetscape, historical context, adjacent building lines as well as the views over the River Wansbeck and Telford Bridge. Ahead of the build, an extensive consultation process took place with Historic England, the local planning authority, its conservation officer, the parish council and residents.

Last year Neil Lister, Site Manager at McCarthy & Stone, won an NHBC Pride in the Job Award which recognises excellence in on-site management.

Simon Stallard, an associate at Box Architects, says: “We are delighted to have been nominated for an Insider North East Property award. It is testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in this scheme located in the historic market town of Morpeth.”

William Bird, Development Manager at McCarthy & Stone, adds: “We have been successfully working with the Box Architects team for over five years and continue to be delighted with the exceptionally high standard of delivery we receive on every project. William Turner Court is another award-winning example of how the right design can create a fantastic new retirement community. By working collaboratively with the community and local authorities, we regenerate brownfield sites in strategic urban locations across the north of England.”
