I recently travelled to Manchester for a couple of key events in the interior design calendar.
My day began at the 2018 Mix Design Collective, an inaugural interiors exhibition staged by Mix Interiors magazine. Held at INNSIDE Hotel, it featured a collaboration between the Design Collective and Bruntwood. The show was made up of a fascinating patchwork of smaller exhibitions showcasing health and wellbeing, engagement spaces dedicated to human interaction as well as escape areas.
I was particularly drawn to TP Bennett’s design for Escape. It had created a brilliant new ‘cloud’ space that promotes wellbeing. It gives employees a space in which to switch off, recharge and reinvigorate themselves. Each user can adapt the lighting and music to match their current mood. You enter through a small opening and are greeted with a tent effect complete with music and lighting to set the mood.
The evening was spent at Mixology North18 as a guest of Desso Tarkett, one of our valued suppliers. The awards ceremony itself was attended by over 1,100 people this year, making it the biggest event in its history – and certainly the biggest and most prestigious ceremony held in the north of England. There were various designers, architects, developers and product specialists in attendance from across the design and build sector.
And yes, a good night was had by all!
