Ian Sanderson, Senior Architect

Ian earned his architecture degree from the University of Huddersfield in 2009 and also completed both undergraduate and post-graduate courses in architecture there. This accomplishment allowed him to obtain ARB status.

Before joining Box Architects, Ian worked for over nine years in one of the largest private architectural firms in the region. During this time, he gained valuable experience in residential, commercial, and retail sectors. He was involved in projects for a Health Trust in the north of England and collaborated with several major blue-chip companies. Notably, he served as the Project Architect for the construction of a prestigious European headquarters facility.

Currently, Ian leads a design team responsible for delivering large-scale senior living developments across the UK. His recent projects have involved embracing modern construction methods, such as off-site construction techniques, to enhance quality, construction speed, and environmental sustainability for clients.

One of Ian’s current architectural passions centers around Building Information Modelling (BIM). This process involves managing construction project information in a standardized format. Ian has extensive experience with BIM, having applied it successfully in a notable healthcare project that received a CIOB award for collaborative work and in a retail facility project for a major blue-chip company. His experiences have solidified his belief in the benefits of BIM across all project stages, and he plays a crucial role in providing BIM expertise and delivering BIM projects to our clients
