Children can learn to swim like Olympians at swim! Warrington
Located just three miles from Warrington town centre, with free parking, is swim! Warrington, the first of twenty to be constructed in the UK to teach 3-11 year olds how to swim, in an inspiring uncrowded environment.
swim! facilities are being developed by Total Swimming led by Steve Parry, Olympian and CEO. Together with Box Architects as principle architect, they are creating, for children, clean and exciting environments in which to learn to swim.
Inspired by the London 2012 modular training pools, Warrington is the first to be completed and is a real asset to the community. Such a venue for children was lacking in the Warrington area, so swim! Warrington, provides a dedicated teaching pool, to encourage youths to learn and enjoy a vital life skill.
We created a single level pool in a space which formally housed a jungle playground. The internal layout needed to be reconfigured to provide a swimming pool, large communal changing room and an open family viewing and celebration area. The pool’s exterior was to be in keeping with Total Swimming’s ethos of delivering a great swimming experience in a fun environment. So, we used a gloss vinyl warp exterior which stands out, brightens up the neighbourhood and can be seen from afar.
The project was delivered at a rapid pace; it took just 18 weeks from the initial clearing of the site to opening the swimming pool to the public.
- First swim! project takes Olympic teaching pools to the community
- Adopting a creative style to reflect the client’s ethos and identity
- Innovative design delivered at a rapid pace
“We aim to help people to learn an all-important life skill through innovative and enjoyable classes that combine learning with fun and our first swim! facility at Warrington gives us an exciting opportunity to do exactly that.”
