Box Architects are working with Eden Retirement Living to create a retirement living scheme for the ages in Haywards Heath.
The Downlands Park development in West Sussex has 81 one- and two-bed apartments and cottages for older residents. But it’s the scheme’s additional role as a leisure and wellbeing hub for the local community that’s the main talking point.
The development will include a spa, pool, treatment room and fitness suite – unique shared facilities that will allow people of all ages to mix and address issues of isolation and loneliness.
Downlands Park is a great example of Eden’s strong set of community values, which Box will help bring to reality by taking forward the design to completion.
As well as the leisure and wellbeing hub, the project will include a restaurant, club lounge and cinema room – all surrounded by extensive landscaped gardens, stepped planted terraces and kitchen gardens, which will provide communal outside space for residents and locals alike, increase biodiversity on the site, and encourage birds and animals.
