Contemporary redevelopment of historic site wins unanimous city council backing
Lady Royd House is one of Bradford’s finest Grade II listed mansions. So, when plans were raised to convert the former school into a 14-bedroom family home within a gated development of seven other new-build properties, a sensitive approach was required. Indeed, development of the site had previously been a contentious issue among the local community.
We worked closely with the client and local planning and conservation officers to create a design that combined contemporary practicality with respect for the historic building and its stunning setting.
As a result, plans for the mansion, new-build homes, refurbished gate lodge and impressive five-bedroom barn conversion were approved unanimously by Bradford City Council’s planning committee.
