Situated near the vibrant market town of Ramsbottom, the relocation of the Holcombe Brook tennis club provided an opportunity for a development in this great location that provided views of the Peel Towers on the moors.
McCarthy & Stone developed a project of 50 retirement living new build apartments with a popular homeowners’ communal lounge and onsite car parking surrounded by landscaped communal gardens.
The articulation of the building was an important factor to reduce the mass of the main elevation facing Longsight Road. The local vernacular informed the design of the building, while the use of a traditional palette of materials ensured the development integrated within the street scene.
Box Architects were appointed after planning approval to produce the tender and construction drawings, then attended site through to completion and handover to the management company and the residents.
