Doing somersaults for new gymnastics centre

Olympian Beth Tweddle has opened her own gymnastics centre in Bolton.

It’s been designed and delivered by Box Architects and is the first facility for Beth Tweddle Gyms, a new venture for the London 2012 medallist.

The centre includes a 600 sq m sprung floor, state-of-the-art equipment and ancillary facilities.

“Gymnastics is a great sport to be involved in, but one of the main barriers is often the lack of available, suitable facilities,” said Beth. “That’s why we’ve designed this bespoke facility, completely dedicated to gymnastics development for all, at grassroots level.”

Box has previously worked on a number of swimming pool projects with BTG’s sister company, Total Swimming. “The project demonstrates our strengths in designing sports and leisure facilities, and finding that important balance between the commercial and creative,” said Senior Architect Lee Holmes.

“We hope this first project is a success and a springboard to delivering many more BTG facilities in the future.”
