Box have helped The Recreation Group make the most of the opportunity of an empty retail unit on an out-of-town retail park – by creating a brand new swimming pool.
The swim! Sheffield facility opened in April to provide beginner swimmer opportunities for the local community, without the time or the cost required for traditional pools.
Creating the 18m x 7m pool was made possible by above-the-slab modular panels for ease of construction on the site of a former gym. It’s a tried-and-tested technique for swim! and Box, who have previously collaborated on pools in Oldham and Warrington.
“When we’re seeing more and more pools closing across the UK, we are so proud of our latest facility development in Sheffield for swim!” said Olympian Adrian Turner, a director at The Recreation Group. “Converting this once old, tired gym into a state-of-the-art learn-to-swim space has been a fantastic project to be a part of.”
