Work has started on-site for the 55 independent and assisted living units for McCarthy & Stone, designed by Box Architects.
McCarthy & Stone are the UK’s leading retirement living homebuilders. The scheme is set to include 27 two bedroom and 28 one bedroom apartments. As the appointed primary architect, Box will see the project through from concept to completion. This Morpeth project will be a prime example of Box Architects commitment to consistent standards of commercial, creative delivery.
These apartments are due to be completed in May 2018 and will utilise the available space efficiently to create a light, airy feel. In addition to the planned apartments, the development will also feature additional living space for residents’ families when visiting, a communal homeowners lounge and a fully landscaped garden for resident use – all designed to create a sense of community.
Practically, Box have designed these with complete accessibility in mind in order to make them comfortable and appropriate for retirement living. Examples include full lift access, plug sockets and ovens at waist height, easy-access private parking on-site and electronically operated windows. A sophisticated door entry system, smoke detectors and security alarms will ensure that the apartments conform to the highest standards of safety.
This is just one of a programme of developments planned with McCarthy & Stone.
